About Anthony
Anthony Carbines is Minister for Police , Minister for Crime Prevention and Minster for Racing in the Victorian Labor Government led by Premier Daniel Andrews.
He was elected as the State Member for Ivanhoe in 2010 and has held previous Ministerial portfolios and Parliamentary Secretary roles since 2014.
Anthony was born and raised in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from RMIT University. After finishing university, he worked as a journalist at the Geelong Advertiser, served as an adviser and chief of staff to Ministers in the Bracks and Brumby state governments and was a councillor at the City of Banyule.
Anthony and wife Anita live in the Ivanhoe electorate with their daughter, Ava. He is a member of the Geelong Football Club and enjoys running and playing golf.
Ivanhoe Electorate:
The electorate district of Ivanhoe is located in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne and include the suburbs of Macleod, Yallambie, West Heidelberg, Heidelberg Heights, Rosanna, Viewbank, Bellfield, Heidelberg, Ivanhoe, Eaglemont and Ivanhoe East.
The electorate is home to Simpson Army Barracks, the Austin and Repatriation Health Precinct and significant open space along the Darebin Creek and the Yarra and Plenty Rivers.
